Subjects and programs

Nambour Special School has a ‘whole school’ approach to the Planning, Teaching and Assessing cycle.  The whole school works on the same topic each term, identifying specific content that will build on each student’s knowledge, skills and abilities. Planning, Teaching and Assessing is organised around the Key Learning Areas (KLAs) of English, Maths, Science, HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), Health and Physical Education, The Arts and Technology.

    Assessment of student progress on learning goals is recorded in a variety of ways.

    Planning begins with consideration of each student's prior knowledge.

    Students are assigned a class with approximately 5 other students of a similar age, who have similar educational requirements.
