Assessment of student progress on learning goals is recorded in a variety of ways. Multi-media Data Capture (MMDC) involves staff taking short video clips of students working towards their goals. This enables very clear data to be recorded of student achievement and the level of support required. This evidence can then be used for reporting on report cards, reporting to families and carers, and informing other staff of student achievement and support levels to enable smooth transitioning and the continuation of learning across the school. Student assessment may also include: work samples, checklists and anecdotal records.
At the end of each semester, report cards are sent home to families. Parents and carers are formally invited to meet with teachers regarding student progress twice each year, and are encouraged to meet with teachers at other times as necessary.
Recognition and celebration of academic achievement occurs informally within the classrooms, and more formally during school assemblies and at the end of each term.
