Nambour Special School has 10 teaching areas with 24 classrooms, which cater for the needs of a wide range of students, with the focus on engaging with the school curriculum. The grounds are beautifully maintained and cover approximately 6 acres of land set on 2 sites.
Classroom areas – All Primary classrooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard, appropriate ICT areas, toilet facilities, kitchen facilities, group eating area, showers and an enclosed outdoor area. Secondary classrooms have interactive whiteboards, and shared kitchen and toilet facilities.
Swimming Pool – The indoor swimming pool is accessible all year round. Class groups have at least one session in the pool per week. The groups range from hydrotherapy to stroke techniques and fitness.
Gym – Students access the school gym as part of their HPE and fitness program.
S.H.E.D – The SHED accommodates the whole school population for whole school events such as assembly, Christmas concerts and ANZAC ceremonies. Students also utilise the SHED during organised morning tea and lunchtime activities, perceptual motor programs, SmartMoves sessions and wheelchair mobility lessons.
Playgrounds – Nambour Special School playgrounds are designed to meet the needs of students at specific stages of their development. The Western and Bike Track playgrounds are used by the Primary school students. F block playground and the Oval are utilised by the secondary students. Students are provided with a range of activities to meet their recreational needs during supervised play times.
Multi sensory room – The Multi sensory room is equipped with a range of sensory equipment.
Ovals – Nambour Special school provides lots of space for our students to explore. With 2 ovals the school provides a country, open feel and allows students to release energy in a safe and secure environment.
Library – Nambour Special School has a small and busy library with a range of resources for teaching, learning and enjoyment.
